Prentiss Taylor

Prentiss Taylor (1907 – October 7, 1991) was an American illustrator, lithographer, and painter. He was a strong figure in the Harlem Renaissance. Among his many friends from that era is Langston Hughes:

Taylor illustrated many of his publications.[1] Also among his close friends was the photographer Carl Van Vechten. Later in his life he moved to Washington DC where he taught at American University. His work is held by the Corcoran Gallery and the Smithsonian Institution among many others. Taylor's papers are held in the Archives of American Art.[2]
